Help for Helplessness

Taking in news videos is disheartening, witnessing injustice, suffering, violence, war, death, terror, trauma…babies, mothers, fathers, and grandparents seek refuge. Powerlessness burdens my heart, yearning to somehow act on behalf of people half a world away.

Unexpectedly the weight is lifted; hope shines bright. I learn that Christian workers, who reside in that part of the world, have established a network to provide food, shelter, and other essentials for the refugees. I am linked with them from a great distance, drawn close with offerings and prayers, the supremely effective connection created by the Lord.
